Heroes / Reading roster

A reading list of heroes

Six familiar heroes introduce the three main jobs. This is a useful first shelf, not a claim to cover every hero or define the current meta.

Filter by role

tank / Frontline space

Reinhardt

Think of Reinhardt’s barrier as help with a crossing rather than permission to stand in the street. The next corner gives the team somewhere to work.

Keep in mind

Move when the players behind you can use the space, not only when the road ahead is empty.

tank / Mobile protection

D.Va

D.Va can contest high ground and return to protect a teammate. Read both ends of that journey before entering the enemy angle.

Keep in mind

The objective may need a different kind of help by the time your dive finishes.

damage / Off-angle pressure

Tracer

Tracer makes a side route relevant by forcing the enemy to notice it. Use short exposures and nearby cover to keep that attention expensive.

Keep in mind

A chase can take you beyond the useful fight. Watch the objective and your return route.

Official hero details

damage / Steady sightline pressure

Soldier: 76

Soldier: 76 rewards a clear view and a plan for leaving it. Practise finding a place where the team can benefit from sustained pressure.

Keep in mind

The tallest platform is not always the best position if nobody can help you there.

Official hero details
Original fan illustration introducing the support role

support / Ranged support and utility

Ana

Ana wants a line through the useful fight rather than the longest possible view. A nearby corner gives her time to respond when pressure arrives.

Keep in mind

If the frontline moves around a building, your old position may stop supporting it.

Official hero details

support / Responsive protection

Kiriko

Kiriko’s protection is useful when an ally has something worth doing during the window it creates. Position to see the danger arrive.

Keep in mind

Following a teammate into a dead end can turn a rescue attempt into two late respawns.
